BBC Young Folk Awards 2008 Finals
The finals were held on December 7 at the Southbank Centre in London and One String Loose were among 6 acts chosen from around the UK to compete for the coveted award. While not winning :C they played an amazing 8 minute set (made up of two 4 minute sets) which was recorded and played on BBC Radio 2 the following Wednesday. One of the sets will be sold on the BBC Folk Awards 2008 CD on the extra disk, available on Amazon etc before the summer.
The band, along with an entourage of 50 friends, family, fans and other musicians travelled up to London on a hired coach - with live music sessions all the way up and back. The competition was run by Mrs Casey Music and the BBC - which provided the band with hotel accomadation for both the semi-finals and finals, as well as workshops in the music industry and a chance to meet some of the top honchoes in the folk world.
More information about the competition, a review of the night and a chance to hear the lads performance can be found at the BBC Radio 2 Folk and Acoustic Site.
