2006 February Recording of self-produced CD 'Makin' Monkeys Funky' at Broadoak Studios in Herefordshire March 3-5 - Cwlwm Celtaidd – Celtic Festival of Wales (Porthcawl, South Wales ) 17th - Dewstow Golf Club (Caldicot, Monmouthshire) – St. Patrick’s Day Party April 21st - Newport Irish Club (Newport , Gwent) – Supporting Welsh super group Mabon May 5th - The Riverfront (Newport , Gwent) – Mayzmusik Talent Show. A competition amongst the best teenage talent in South-East Wales . One String Loose come first in Best Band category and win the trophy for best overall act. 14 - Tredegar House Folk Festival (Newport , Gwent) 14 - The Legendary TJs (Newport , Gwent) One String Loose support medieval folk band Circulus 19 - Irish Welsh Folk Weekend ( Pontypool , Torfaen). A night of music from Ireland and Wales 28 - Darwen Live (Darwen and Blackburn ). One String Loose played on the outdoor main stage to an audience of about six thousand people and in the Library Theatre. They also appeared on the BEE Festival radio. June 11 - Woolaston Inn Food and Drink Festival (Woolaston, Gloustershire) 17 - Taurus Fringe Festival (Taurus Crafts, Forest of Dean ) July 1,2 - Saul ‘Folk on the Water’ One String Loose played three gigs over the weekend including one on the main stage and one on a canal boat. 7-9 - Celtica 2006 (Cormeyeur, Aosta Valley , Italy ). One String Loose did 4 gigs, representing Wales at this international Celtic Festival.They also jammed on stage with Canadian fiddler Dominique Dupuis and Scottish group Croft No 5. August 4-11 -Sidmouth International Folk Festival - One String Loose did some impromtu busking performances on the pier during the week. They also went onto the outdoor open stage at Duke's and impressed the quickly growing audience so much they were asked back. On the strength of their performance, they were asked to play at the Swanage Folk Festival. 13 - SummerFest@Castle (Caldicot Castle , Monmouthshire). Annual outdoor festival at the historic Caldicot Castle 18-20 - Gwyl Pontardawe Festival (Pontardawe, nr. Swansea ). Massive outdoor festival of World Music. One String Loose played to a packed house on the main stage as well as on the Acoustic Stage. They also led a session in the bar area. 30 - Ponty Acoustic Music Club. One String Loose were invited as the guests on this evening. September 2 - Wedding in Chepstow 8-10 - Swanage Folk Festival ( Dorset ) One String Loose played in the main marquee to a completely packed house. 16 - Wedding in Caldicot 17th - Salisbury Folk Festival (Wiltshire). Main Stage and an intimate performance upstairs (meet the artist) 23rd - Brigend Festival of Wales (Bridgend, Glamorgan). Outdoor Festival in the town Centre. (Daytime) 23 - Wedding (evening) 24 - The Legendary TJs (Newport , Gwent) A night of psychedelic, folk and experimental music. October 13-15 - Banbury Folk Festival (Oxfordshire). One String Loose headlined the young musicians concert as well as led a fantastic mixed session at the Bell Inn. 26 - BBC Radio Wales ‘Celtic Heartbeat’. Live recording for Frank Hennessey’s longstanding show. Four of their sets were played on the show on October 28th edition. November 7th - Porthcawl GrandPavilion ( South Wales ) One String Loose plus support. 18th - Private party December 2nd - Castle Pub, Caldicot 17th - Club Ifor Bach, Cardiff - A night of bands with Cardiff Meltdown.
